I’m Chandni, Chan for short! My name means moonlight in Sanskrit (चांदनी), and like the moon, my creative work honors cycles of life and the beauty of becoming. I consider myself deeply spiritual, connected to our earth, and a lover of animals and nature. This connection began in Zambia, Africa, where I grew up and first picked up a camera at age 10, taking pictures of wildlife on my dad’s old Canon on a safari.
I’m an avid traveler and feel incredibly grateful to have visited 25+ countries across 6 continents in my 26 years of life. Of all the places I’ve been, Australia is my fave, where I spent a month traveling from one end to the other, checking so many lifelong dreams off of my bucket list, like skydiving and swimming with whale sharks! I’m also a huge adrenaline junkie and love doing things that scare and make me feel small in the world.
When I’m not on a crazy adventure, you can find me on my yoga mat. Over the last 5 years, yoga has slowly become a constant in my life. It has taught me to find silence within my own mind in a loud world. Yoga has also helped me return to a slower way of living; one that mirrors the pace of my childhood in my quiet Zambian town. This year, I will be deepening my practice, as I embark on my 200-hour teacher training!
At my core, my goal is always to create the way I live; inspired by the earth, attuned to the world around me, and guided by care. Everything I experience, whether it's exciting or mundane, shapes work that feels honest, grounded, and in tune with my intuition.
the "why" behind discos & dispos
Discos, because life is a party. For me, it’s where energy meets creation, a space to capture life as it naturally is; unapologetic, and real. This year and a half has presented traumatic injuries, month-long tummy parasites and too many emotional rollercoasters to recount, but all of those moments are what make me, me. And like me, everyone on this planet endures hardships every day. I choose to honor them, just as we honor every positive in life because the hard shit makes us better! To me, being alive is a celebration, romanticizing your life is a must!
Dispos is a nod to what this page used to be (a digital diary where I’d post disposable camera photos to relish in the nostalgia). I love film photography because it allows us to trust the moment instead of controlling it. There aren’t infinite shots, you hit the shutter and move on. It’s a practice in surrender; choosing feeling over perfection in a world that glorifies curated illusions. We were never meant to curate every moment as social media has trained us to.
Discos & Dispos is about more than photography; it’s about honoring the wild, free and deeply human spirit. This community exists for those who want to be seen, felt and remembered exactly as they are. Thank you for an incredible, dreamy, romantic year ⟡ I can’t wait to continue creating with each of you in 2026.
